"Donne ch'avete intelletto": dantiste del XX secolo

Abstract

L'articolo ha l'obiettivo di riflettere sugli sviluppi e sulla ricezione novecentesca della critica dantesca praticata dalle donne, a partire dai due casi studio di Victoria Ocampo e Irma Brandeis. Nella prima parte introduco la figura di Victoria Ocampo e mi soffermo sui suoi contributi danteschi e sulla loro fortuna; nella seconda parte riservo lo stesso trattamento a Irma Brandeis e ai suoi studi. Nella parte finale dell'articolo individuo gli aspetti più notevoli e le caratteristiche comuni ai loro scritti, e le analizzo alla luce delle riflessioni delle due autrici sul rapporto del genere con la lettura e con la scrittura.

This article aims at addressing 20th century female Dante criticism and its reception, and it does so through two case studies, namely those of Victoria Ocampo and Irma Brandeis. First, I introduce Victoria Ocampo, with particular emphasis on the works she devoted to Dante and to their fortune; then, I proceed in the same way with respect to Irma Brandeis and her scholarship. Finally, I highlight some remarkable and shared features of their work, and I analyze them in light of how they conceived the relationship between gender on the one hand, and reading and writing on the other hand.
